Actofy and Shortform: compare the learning experience
Shortform describes in-depth written guides. Actofy describes narrated video chapters and illustrated pages. Here is how the two differ, according to what each publisher says.

Shortform describes itself as a learning platform of in-depth guides, with analysis, commentary and exercises, in text with audio narration. Actofy introduces selected ideas as narrated video chapters or illustrated pages. If you want depth and exercises, Shortform's description fits. Choose Shortform if
Shortform's own description points to these strengths:
- you want depth: long written guides with analysis that connects ideas across books;
- you like to work through exercises after you read;
- you are happy to read or listen and do not need pictures.
Consider Actofy if
Actofy is built for a different job:
- you would rather see an idea explained with pictures and narration before you decide to read the whole book;
- you want to move one chapter at a time and come back to a single idea;
- you want to preview before paying: create a free account, preview a title, then choose Actofy Pro if you want more.
Try both on a book you know
Actofy is not a study guide. Its pages introduce selected ideas and do not replace the book. Shortform's guides go deeper on the ideas they cover.
Pick one title you already know and open it in both apps. Notice which one leaves you able to explain the main idea to someone else, and which one makes you want to read the book. That is a better test than any table. Below is what an Actofy preview looks like.
